Shingo's a pretty average-looking teenage guy—blonde, gelled-back hair, light skin, and on the shorter side (only Jouji Nezu beats him in that department). He's got minimal muscle compared to the other boys and favors wearing the school uniform with the collar open and no tie, which gives off a distinctly thuggish vibe.
Personality-wise, he's moody and hard to pin down. Shingo tends to be the pessimist of the group, and he's not shy about making selfish calls that benefit himself over the team, which naturally creates friction with the others. He's also one of the more openly perverted members—eager to join in on schemes to catch glimpses of girls bathing. His vanity can be pretty extreme; he was genuinely concerned about his appearance even as a prisoner, specifically requesting hair pomade as a gift.
What's interesting about Shingo is that while he's mostly loyal to the boys, he's got a real hypocritical streak. He'll betray them for his own gain and then turn around and harshly judge Kiyoshi Fujino for pulling the exact same move. He's prone to sulking when things don't go his way—leaving his cell messy, constantly griping whenever their prison sentences get extended. The guy's basically the group's resident pessimist and complainer, which is either endearing or annoying depending on the moment.
