Takashi is Hiroyuki's older brother. He dropped out of medical school due to depression, and has been living in isolation for a few years. When Hiroyuki visits him for what would be the last time, Takashi voices his desire to die and tells him to keep on living. His suicide marks a turning point in Hiroyuki's life, causing him to question his careless view of life.
