Josef is pretty much the steady, levelheaded one of the group. He's got a lot in common with Lutz personality-wise—both of them are practical guys who end up basically babysitting their more eccentric wives. Josef spends a good chunk of his time just trying to keep his wife grounded and on track, which is honestly kind of his whole thing in the story.
