He's now a high-ranking Akatsuki member partnered with Itachi Uchiha—and notably, one of the few partners who actually gets along with their assigned teammate. Kisame follows Itachi's lead without question and keeps a close eye on him, something that sets their dynamic apart from most other Akatsuki pairs. The Land of Water wants him dead for his role in assassination plots and attempts to overthrow the government back home. His weapon is Samehada, a shark-skinned sword covered in scales that shaves away skin instead of slicing cleanly. The blade can absorb massive amounts of chakra, and it's bonded to Kisame alone—if anyone else tries to grab it, spikes shoot out and it returns to him.
