Kumashi is Perona's zombie teddy bear and loyal sidekick during the Thriller Bark arc. Dr. Hogback created him about ten years before the main story, turning Perona's actual teddy bear into a zombie by implanting a human shadow inside it—all because she asked him to.
Despite being cute enough that Perona genuinely likes him, there's one major problem: his voice. Perona hates it so much that she constantly shuts him up whenever he tries to speak. The anime really drives this home by giving him a particularly grating voice, which fans often note justifies Perona's harsh treatment of him. Still, Kumashi remains completely devoted to her no matter how strict or dismissive she gets. He's basically the definition of loyal to a fault.
