Kamon and Mao go way back—they trained together at the same onmyodo school. He's got a reputation as a charmer with the ladies, which is exactly what he was doing the day Byoki attacked; he only made it back in time to witness the carnage. Hyakka broke the news to him (though it turned out to be wrong) that Mao had orchestrated everything and absorbed Byoki's power for himself. That misinformation sent Kamon down a dark path. Like Hyakka, he got pulled into that Five-Sided Room meeting and tasked with assassinating Mao nine centuries ago.
Instead of dying or fading away, Kamon adopted the alias Kuchinawa and kept climbing. He's never hesitated to use his powers to mess with wealthy people's heads, bending them to his will so he can enjoy their money and status. Fast-forward centuries, and Mao runs into him again—only Kamon's now working as a butler for Tanehiko, a serial killer. It's a nasty gig; he's been cleaning up after Tanehiko's murders. But when the guy goes after Tenko, a yokai girl, Kamon draws the line and literally rips Tanehiko's heart out.
He's got serious skills with wood-based magic—conjuring trees and roots to attack. Once he reconnects with Mao, he teams up with Beniko, who becomes his assistant in much the same way Otoya works with Mao. Kamon's got a particular fixation on Shiranui, convinced the onmyoji tried to kill him at sea years ago. He eventually discovers something unsettling: Shiranui's been keeping his dead lover Masago's corpse around, using her residual powers as a weapon.
