Nia is the ninth spirit Shidou picked up, though she's better known as the Second Spirit—supposedly the only one who has any real information about the First Spirit and where she might be. D.E.M. captured her sometime before the main story, leaving her in a coma. She first gets mentioned in Volume 7 when Kurumi decides helping Shido rescue Tohka might give her a shot at finding and rescuing Nia herself. Turns out Nia wasn't even being held at the facility they raided.
She's got short ash-gray hair, icy blue eyes, and a nun-inspired Astral Dress made of dark, semi-transparent ink fabric that doesn't leave much to imagination. The collar's shaped like a pen tip and the center's patterned like a manga panel—both nods to her work as a manga artist. She pairs it with long black laced boots and a black veil attached to a pen and feather duster, plus a golden cross on a beaded rope around the waist. Outside of combat, she wears dark red square-framed glasses and usually goes for pretty androgynous casual clothes, only breaking out actual dresses for special occasions.
Combat-wise, Nia's one of the weaker spirits. Her real strength is information gathering and storage, but she holds back anyway because of her pacifistic tendencies—she just won't tap into her Angel's more violent applications. That said, fans often note that when she does go all-out, her Angel's near-omniscience and reality warping are basically god-tier.
