Alan is best known as the protagonist of the Mega Evolution Special series, where he travels around hunting down Mega Evolved Pokémon with his prized Mega Lizardon X. He started out working under Professor Platane, but eventually switched sides to join Team Flare after Fleur-de-lis convinced him that studying Mega Evolution could benefit humanity. As part of the organization, Alan became one of Fleur-de-lis's trusted agents and continued collecting Mega Evolution energy on their behalf. He later crosses paths with Satoshi during the XY&Z arc, where the two clash as rivals while Alan remains committed to Team Flare's agenda.
