Theodor Eberbach is the protagonist of Schwarzesmarken. A 2nd Lieutenant in the 666th TSF Squadron, he's known for his close-combat skills and operates under the call sign Schwarzesmarken 08.
Raised by the Hohensteins after being adopted as a child, Theodor lost his family when they were captured by the Stasi during a failed escape attempt to West Germany. He was tortured while imprisoned, an experience that fueled an intense hatred of the Stasi that still defines him. The circumstances around his eventual release remain unclear, but afterward he enlisted in the military.
In the squadron, Theodor keeps to himself—a lone-wolf type who doesn't really connect with his teammates. He's particularly hostile toward Irisdina, who betrayed her own brother to the Stasi, something he can't get past.
