A proud and talented goalkeeper, Genda earned the nickname "King of Goalkeepers" during his time at Teikoku Gakuen. He was known for backing his captain Kidou when the team decided to defy their coach Kageyama's orders.
That loyalty didn't last forever, though. After Teikoku lost to Zeus, Genda and Sakuma were convinced by Fudou to transfer to Shin Teikoku Gakuen—ironically coached by Kageyama himself. The move was about chasing strength and independence from Kidou's shadow.
Following the Shin Teikoku incident, Genda moved on to Neo Japan, a national team project put together by Hitomiko that was meant to replace Inazuma Japan in the Football Frontier International tournament.
His signature techniques across the series include Power Shield and Full Power Shield, Beast Fang (and its High variant), Drill Smasher V2, and Shin Mugen no Kabe.
