Murata Tetsuya was an Edo-period swordsmith best known for crafting the Benizakura, a bio-mechanical sword that built on his father's original design. He came from a family of skilled smiths—his father was the renowned Murata Jintetsu, and he had a sister, Murata Tetsuko, who could confirm details about his work.
Tetsuya dealt with severe hearing loss, which affected how he communicated; he had a tendency to speak loudly, almost like he was constantly shouting.
