Akadama is a Karasu-Tengu living on Nyoigatake mountain who mentored the Shimogamo brothers during their younger years. These days he's pretty much housebound—a back injury from an accident left him unable to walk easily or fly at all, so he spends most of his time alone in his cluttered apartment. The brothers still drop by regularly to check on him, clean up the mess, and bring him food and booze, which he appreciates.
His relationship with Benten is more complicated. He took her in as a kid, raised her as his own, and taught her tengu magic along with handing over his most prized possessions. But once she grew up, she decided to strike out on her own and leave him behind. He doesn't hold it against her, but it's clear he misses her—the place feels emptier when she's gone, even if he'd never quite admit it out loud.
