Sango is a professional yōkai slayer from a village dedicated to the craft. What sets her apart in Inuyasha's group is that she has no supernatural abilities whatsoever—instead, she relies on skill, weapons, and tactics. Her signature weapon is the Hiraikotsu, an enormous boomerang forged from yōkai bones, backed up by an impressive arsenal of tools and tricks designed specifically for demon hunting.
Her tragic backstory drives much of her character. Naraku orchestrated the destruction of her entire village and the murder of her family, then framed Inuyasha for it—a ploy meant to turn Sango against him. When that failed, Naraku went further: he revived her little brother Kohaku using a Shikon Jewel shard and enslaved him, forcing Kohaku to fight alongside Inuyasha's group while remaining under Naraku's control. It's a cruel manipulation that works. Sango's main goal isn't even revenge against Naraku anymore—it's saving Kohaku, though his life is now tied to the jewel shard, making his survival uncertain at best.
She has clear feelings for Miroku, though she's constantly annoyed by his wandering hands and lecherous behavior. The dynamic between them is one of the group's running tensions.
