She's the third major character in the story, alongside the Elric brothers. Originally from Creta, a country on Amestris's western border, she comes from a family of alchemists and practices a unique form of alchemy that the brothers have never encountered—one that lets her heal injuries.
As a kid, she was taken in by the people of Milos, a poor settlement at the bottom of the trench that divides Amestris and Creta. The place is mostly home to Cretan refugees who survived the conflict between the two nations. Her own parents were executed as traitors to Creta, and her brother Ashley vanished around the same time, leaving her as essentially the sole survivor of her family.
