Shibugaki starts out as your classic schoolyard bully—the type who gets his kicks tormenting smaller kids and especially Astro's friend Tamao. When he first encounters Astro, he's pretty dismissive, calling him "a stupid pile of micro-chips" and wanting nothing to do with him.
His attitude shifts after Kenichi steps in and convinces him to give Astro a real chance. Eventually Shibugaki comes around and accepts him into their friend group.
Despite his tough-guy persona, he's got a genuine phobia of ghosts that undermines his bully image.
