Hanzo is an 18-year-old Jounin from the Cloud Hidden Village who's been training in ninjutsu basically since he could walk. He became a Hunter specifically to track down the legendary Hermit's Scroll.
What stands out most about Hanzo during the exam arc is how effortlessly skilled he is compared to everyone else. During the marathon portion of the first test, he's casually chatting while most competitors are gasping for air and barely hanging on. In the cooking challenge, he's the only one who even knows what sushi is. He clears the Trick Tower's deadly traps and puzzles as the third candidate to make it through, and when a group gets stuck in Lippo's bonus stage, he naturally steps up to lead them out.
