One of four gatekeepers protecting the entrance to the Seireitei, he guards the Black Ridge Gate on the northern side. Aizen hypnotized him along with the other gatekeepers as part of a scheme to hassle Ichigo and his crew, but Jidanbou Ikkanzaka shut that down before it went anywhere.
He's the only other gatekeeper besides Jidanbou to show up in the anime—though that appearance came during the filler Bount arc, where he got taken out pretty quickly by the Bounts Yoshi and Mabashi.
