Tetsu
Tetsu's the responsible older brother type—the kind who worries constantly and carries way too much on his shoulders. He's genuinely kind and thoughtful, speaks quietly, and comes across as pretty grounded despite everything he's been through. When their parents died, he basically had to grow up overnight and raise his younger brother Tatsu on his own.
He's not really the violent type. Rather than getting caught up in the Shinsengumi's combat operations, he works as a bookkeeper for the organization—keeping his head down and staying out of the bloodier side of things. It's clear he's made peace with not seeking revenge for what happened to their parents, even though it wasn't easy. The harder part? Trying to convince Tatsu to let go of his own anger and thirst for vengeance. That's been an ongoing struggle between them.
He's developed a bit of a habit of apologizing on Tatsu's behalf whenever his brother acts up or causes problems. It's endearing in a way—very much the put-upon older sibling who'd rather smooth things over than watch his little brother make things worse for himself.
