Mick Murray serves as a State Military officer at Fort Briggs under Major General Armstrong's command.
He first showed up working under Major Miles in Baschool during a manhunt for Scar. Miles was organizing search squads when Edward Elric decided to use a dummy he'd built—one that looked like Alphonse's armor—to hide Mick inside. It was a pretty solid cover. Later on, Mick got orders to take out Solf J. Kimblee, though Kimblee managed to slip away.
A few months later, Mick and Liam Roach were tasked with escorting Winry Rockbell back home. When Promised Day hit, the two of them were stationed at the Rockbell Automail shop to keep Pinako and Winry safe, but there wasn't much they could do once the Nationwide Transmutation Circle activated.
