Zashiki-Warashi
Zashiki-Warashi (literally "tatami room child") are youkai—specifically protective house spirits. They're best known for appearing in the Shonen Magazine story Kasa-Jizou, where they made their first major appearance. These spirits are traditionally believed to bring good fortune and watch over households, making them one of the more benevolent figures in Japanese folklore.
