Gil's basically the troublemaking kid of the orphanage—the type who was always getting punished for something or other. He trained to become a priest, though "trained" might be generous given how much time he spent in trouble instead of actually studying. When Main joins the Church, Gil gets assigned to be one of her attendants alongside Delia and Fran, which probably seemed like either the best or worst possible outcome depending on your perspective.
