Park Kyung-Hye is Jin-Woo's mother—a selfless, devoted woman whose priority has always been her children. The moment she woke from her four-year coma, she immediately asked about Jinah, which pretty much sums up where her head's at.
When Il-Hwan disappeared on a raid a decade before the story starts, Kyung-Hye refused to accept he was gone. She raised both kids alone, holding onto hope rather than giving in to despair.
About four years in, things got harder. Kyung-Hye developed Eternal Slumber, a mana-based sleeping disorder with no cure—essentially a ticking clock toward permanent unconsciousness. Knowing what was coming, she made Jin-Woo promise he'd look after Jinah. When she finally fell into that coma, Jin-Woo made his choice: he'd become a hunter like his father had been, the only way he could keep a roof over their heads, support his sister, and pay for his mother's medical care.
