Roto is a D-class demon best known for fighting dirty. Rather than relying on actual skill or strength, he uses underhanded tactics to get the upper hand—including the ability to produce a large blade that emerges from the back of his hand.
He faces Kurama in the Dark Tournament's first round, but it's clear from the start that he's outmatched. As Roto desperately throws punches, he keeps calling Kurama by his human name, Minamino Shuuichi, trying to get in his opponent's head. It doesn't work. When Kurama's about to finish him off, Roto panics and makes a fatal mistake: he threatens to kill Kurama's human mother, Shiori, if Kurama doesn't give up. The threat works—it enrages Kurama completely. In that moment of anger, Kurama plants a Death Seed in Roto's body while he's distracted. The seed takes root and blooms into a plant with beautiful flowers, killing Roto in the process.
