Rai is basically the manhwa's resident fish out of water—an elegant and mysterious Noble who wakes up after sleeping for 820 years with absolutely zero clue how the modern world works. He came to in an abandoned building in South Korea and, seeing what people were wearing on the street, just grabbed a student uniform from Ye Ran High School and rolled with it. The school happens to be run by Frankenstein, though Rai didn't necessarily plan that part.
His complete bewilderment with 21st century technology is the source of most of his comedic moments. Cell phones, modern gadgets, anything electronic—he's perpetually confused by all of it. But he's become oddly beloved for his earnest struggle to make sense of things, especially since he offsets the confusion with a genuine passion for ramen that borders on obsessive.
Despite his otherworldly elegance and the weight of being thousands of years old, there's something endearing about how lost he gets. Fans often note that his innocent mistakes and fish-out-of-water reactions to everyday modern life are what makes him work as comic relief without ever feeling mean-spirited.
