Tsujii Takeshi is a 9 dan professional shogi player who's been holding an A-rank for the last 8 years. He's best known in the shogi community for two things: his obsession with wordplay and puns, and his very obvious craving for attention.
The running joke among other pros is that he's "a waste of good looks"—mostly because he'll hammer you with terrible dad jokes and groan-worthy puns at every opportunity. And yeah, he's usually the only one laughing when he does it.
He faced off against Kiriyama Rei in the quarterfinals of the 20th Lion King Tournament.
