Synopsis

Rei Kiriyama's now a second-year high schooler, still grinding through professional shogi while dealing with his own mess. He's surrounded by interesting people—at the shogi hall, his school club, and around town—and slowly they're breaking through his walls. The Kawamoto sisters (Akari, Hinata, and Momo) especially pull him in, treating him like family. Being around them makes him realize everyone's carrying their own baggage, and he starts actually learning how to lean on people and be there for them too. But being a pro player is brutal. Tournaments, championships, title matches—it all piles on the pressure as Rei climbs higher and faces tougher opponents. While he's trying to maintain these new relationships, he's still wrestling with a bigger question: why does he even play shogi in the first place?
