Otonashi is the main male protagonist of Angel Beats! He wakes up with no memory of his past, convinced that his life was meaningless—a belief that shapes how he sees everything around him at first. But as the story unfolds, he gradually starts to change.
What makes him stand out early on is that he's the first member of the SSS to actually try understanding Tenshi (Kanade) instead of just antagonizing her. That shift in perspective becomes pretty central to where his character goes.
