Synopsis

Death's always been a mystery, but 17-year-old Yuzuru Otonashi gets his answer the hard way—by waking up in it. With no memory of how he got there, he finds himself in a high school that exists between life and death, a holding ground for people who died before they were ready. These residents are angry. They feel cheated by God, so they've banded together as the Afterlife Battlefront to rebel against the student council president, Kanade "Angel" Tachibana, who seems to have all the power. Yuri Nakamura, the group's leader, brings Otonashi into the fight, convinced they need him to take back control. But Otonashi isn't sure the Battlefront's methods are right. Curious about what's really going on, he starts digging into Angel's side of things to understand what they're all actually dealing with.
