Sumaru is a young genin from Hoshigakure with big ambitions—he wants to be the Hoshikage someday. Like everyone in his village, he practices star training, a technique that grants incredible chakra control but comes at a steep physical cost. He's actually pretty talented at it for his age, pulling off some of the more advanced techniques that most kids his level wouldn't attempt.
He grew up believing his parents, Natsuhi and Hotarubi, died in battle while protecting the fallen star. The truth is messier: they stole it to save the village from the destructive effects of star training. Before they died, they asked the Third Hoshikage to keep that secret and protect the family's reputation. Sumaru never learned what really happened.
What he does remember clearly is his mother's lullaby—a song about a red star called Natsuhiboshi, which is actually Mars. That melody stuck with him and became his driving motivation as a ninja.
