Duval is a massive guy who made his first appearance wearing an intimidating medieval-style mask. He's roughly two and a half times taller than an average person, with a muscular upper body that contrasts sharply with surprisingly thin arms and legs. His armor covers his head and shoulders, and he typically dresses in an open leather jacket, black pants, cowboy boots, and a long fur cape.
The real kicker? Underneath that mask, he's basically a dead ringer for Sanji's hilariously terrible wanted poster—same face, same features. The only difference is his eyebrow curves downward instead of upward. This unfortunate resemblance made him a constant target for marines and bounty hunters, forcing him to hide his face just to survive. He's picked up plenty of scars over the years, with a particularly nasty one running down his back that causes him genuine pain.
When Duval finally tracked down Sanji for revenge, things went sideways fast. Sanji's kicks absolutely demolished his face, but in the most unexpected way: it ended up being a complete makeover. His entire facial structure got rearranged into something actually handsome and nothing like his original mug. Duval's thrilled about it—the benefits of being conventionally attractive haven't gone unnoticed. There's one lingering issue though: his winking never quite works right anymore.
