Jinnai Dōko shows up during the Captain Amagai arc as one of Gyōkaku Kumoi's assassins, sent alongside Hanza Nukui's squad to capture Rurichiyo Kasumiōji. When he encounters Rukia Kuchiki, she refuses to hand over her target, so she freezes him in ice—but he breaks out without much trouble. That's when things escalate. He bites into his Bakkōtō Retsurai, unlocking the ability to fire blades from his back, and hurls Rukia through a building to get her out of the way.
Kenryū tries to step in next, but his flower-based powers can only keep Jinnai occupied briefly. When Enryū and Rurichiyo attempt to flee, Jinnai cuts off their escape, forcing Rukia back into the fight. She uses Kidō to shield them, but Jinnai's getting excited—he consumes another piece of his weapon to power up even further, pushing Rukia to her limit trying to keep pace with him.
His hunger for more strength becomes his undoing. He attempts one more power boost, but this time his Bakkōtō completely consumes him instead, and he dies in the process. After the battle ends, Rukia spots the weapon on the ground, but before she can reach it, some of Nukui's men swoop in and take it.
