An executive of the Awakusu-kai, Aozaki earned the nickname "Awakusu's Blue Demon"—the "Ao" (blue) in his surname is fitting. He's a big guy, standing over 190cm with broad shoulders to match.
Aozaki and Akabayashi have a long-running beef that goes back before Akabayashi even joined the organization. They're constantly paired together as the "Blue Demon and Red Demon," which clearly bugs Aozaki. That said, he's apparently made peace with the idea of actually fighting it out—he's told people he has no real intention of settling things with Akabayashi once and for all. When some of Akabayashi's old crew tried to take revenge after their boss died, Aozaki actually gave Akabayashi a heads-up about it. The difference between them is pretty telling: while Akabayashi prefers going in solo, Aozaki always rolls with his crew.
As for the succession, Aozaki doesn't think Awakusu Mikiya has what it takes to replace Dougen. He'll gripe about it when Dougen's not around, but he's genuinely loyal to his boss and respects him deeply. Unlike Akabayashi, Aozaki makes zero effort to stay current with modern tech and has said he'd smash his cell phone without hesitation if Dougen told him to.
