Kawanishi's a starting middle blocker for Shiratorizawa, though you wouldn't necessarily know he cares much about it from watching him play. He's got that perpetually blank expression going—not unfriendly exactly, just. reserved. Doesn't really mix much with the rest of the team socially either.
His approach to volleyball mirrors his personality: cautious and measured. He's not the type to hurl himself at every ball with reckless intensity. Instead, he relies on solid fundamentals and a sharp tactical sense to get the job done. His intellect and stamina are where he shines, which actually works pretty well for a blocker who needs to read the court and stay sharp across long rallies. The power and athleticism aren't anything to write home about, but he doesn't seem to need them to be effective.
