Tempeh
Tempeh was a demon from the Chinese Peninsula who gained sentience—rare for his kind. He's best known for his encounter with the Evangelist at the Tear in Space, which happened after he'd lost everything that mattered to him.
The Great Cataclysm wiped out his whole life: his wife, his daughter, and his wealth. Pretty devastating stuff. Instead of staying put, he decided to seek out the Tear in Space, some kind of dimensional rift or gateway. That's where he ran into the Evangelist, and whatever happened there apparently defined the rest of his story.
