He's also a formidable swordsman and philosopher, though he's the first to admit his painting skills leave much to be desired. Before joining Arslan's cause, he held a prominent position advising King Andragoras—until he openly challenged the monarchy's commitment to slavery. That principled stand cost him everything; he was cast out, stripped of his rank and influence. Despite this, he's remained close to Daryun, and the two formed a lasting bond that would eventually lead both men to support Arslan's rise.
