Deuce Spade is a first-year at Heartslabyul who came to Night Raven determined to become a real mage. He's the serious type, though he can be a bit all over the place organizationally.
What really changed Deuce's trajectory was overhearing his mom crying on the phone to his grandmother during middle school—that moment hit him hard enough that he genuinely turned his life around. Before that, he'd been running with a rough crowd, but hearing her broke something open in him. He made the decision right then to clean up his act, and Night Raven became his chance to actually do it.
He's not the quickest at academics. Even basic algebra takes him longer than it probably should, and he'll sit there wrestling with simple math problems for ages. But he makes up for it with determination.
His Unique Magic, "Bet the Limit!," is pretty straightforward but effective—he can catch someone else's magic mid-cast and throw it right back at them. It's the kind of ability that rewards good reflexes and positioning.
