Ayase Momo is a girl with psychic abilities who's pretty into the whole ghosts-are-real thing. Her powers actually kicked in after she got kidnapped by aliens trying to use her for reproduction, which is. a lot. She lives with her grandmother, who's also psychic and runs a shrine. Momo didn't trust her grandma's abilities at first, but eventually apologized once she realized the powers were legit.
She makes a bet with Takakura—a UFO believer—to settle which is real: ghosts or extraterrestrials. They're basically on opposite sides of the paranormal spectrum.
Momo gave Takakura the nickname "Okarun" because she couldn't get past the fact that he shares the exact same name as her favorite actor, Takakura Ken. Calling him by his real name was apparently too much, so the nickname stuck.
