Yuuichirou Hyakuya is the main protagonist of Owari no Seraph and a member of the Demon Moon Squad. He's best known for his single-minded drive to get stronger, no matter the cost.
Abandoned by his parents early on, Yuuichirou grew up at Hyakuya Orphanage where the other kids became his only real family. That changed when vampires raided the orphanage and dragged the children away to be kept as "livestock" in their underground city. When his friend Michaela manages to score a map of the place, the two hatch an escape plan with the other kids in tow. It seems like it might actually work—until it becomes clear the whole thing was orchestrated by Ferid Bathory, one of the Seven Founders. The escape fails spectacularly, and everyone dies except Yuuichirou.
After stumbling out into the world traumatized and alone, he's picked up by Guren Ichinose, a captain in the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. That encounter changes everything. Desperate for the power to avenge his dead family, Yuuichirou throws himself into the military, joining the ranks to gain what strength he can.
