Joe's a Tokyo University grad who spent a decade on the G Team feeling pretty hollow—convinced humanity was pointless and that he'd hit some kind of wall. Then he met Hajime, and something shifted. He found his drive again, started actually caring about his work. Now he runs the Living Safety Department at city hall, where he maintains this whole polished, put-together image: glasses on, hair neat, the handsome bureaucrat type. But once evening rolls around, he sheds all that. Glasses come off, cigarettes come out, and his whole personality does a 180. He's got this habit of calling Hajime "little lady" while referring to himself as the "old man"—keeps things formal and distant between them.
