A massive UFO crash-lands in rural Japan near Nagaoka, turning Tsubasa Misudachi's quiet life upside down. When the ship opens up, out comes a peaceful alien—but the real shock comes when Gatchaman founder J.J. Robinson hands Tsubasa a high-tech notebook called a NOTE. Suddenly, she's been recruited into the legendary Gatchaman, the defenders of Tachikawa City. With help from fellow hero Hajime Ichinose, Tsubasa has to figure out what it means to be a hero. At the same time, a new technology called CROWDS is gaining popularity. It lets people manifest their consciousness into physical form, and the government's pushing it hard. But a shadowy group called VAPE is using a weaponized version—red CROWDS—to cause chaos and turn people against the whole thing. Now Tsubasa and the Gatchaman have to track down VAPE and stop them before things spiral completely out of control.
