Fujitaka Kinomoto is Sakura's father and, as it turns out, a reincarnation of Clow Reed himself—though you wouldn't know it to look at him. By day he's a busy archaeology professor at Towa University, but he's best known among fans for being genuinely one of the most supportive and present dads in anime. He met Sakura's mother Nadeshiko when she literally fell out of a tree and landed on him during his first year teaching at her high school. He called her "an angel fallen from the sky," and they fell hard for each other. They married when she was sixteen, and though Nadeshiko died seven years before the series begins, Fujitaka never stopped loving her—he keeps rotating photos of her in the dining room, refreshing them each morning like a small daily ritual.
The twist comes later: when Clow Reed split his soul in two to stop being the world's most powerful magician, one half became Eriol with all the magic and memories intact, while the other became Fujitaka—powerless but crucial, destined to father the one who'd inherit the cards. Because he has no magic, he's weirdly unaffected by magical effects that hit everyone else, like Eriol's sleep spells. By the end of the series, Eriol gives him half his magic back, which finally lets Fujitaka see Nadeshiko's spirit, who's been watching over the family all along.
The anime completely rewrote his character, ditching the Clow Reed reincarnation angle, his magical immunity, and any spiritual payoff with Nadeshiko. In the English Cardcaptors dub, he's renamed Aiden Avalon.
