Karura was the princess of Na-Tunku until the Shakukoporu knocked her off the throne and replaced her with a puppet ruler. She resurfaces after tearing through enemy soldiers with her bare hands to escape captivity. Despite her royal blood, she abandons that life and chooses to serve Hakuoro under the name "Karura," living something closer to a normal existence. She and her brother are the last two Giriyaginas left in the world.
On the battlefield, her superhuman strength is the real draw—she swings an absurdly heavy sword that would be impossible for anyone else, essentially functioning as Hakuoro's living tank. She plows through enemy ranks like nothing else.
She's rarely seen without a jug of sake, even during combat. There's an unspoken history between her and Urutori that never gets fully explained, though it's clear they go way back. When Na-Tunku's slave rebellion erupts, Karura makes the most binding vow her people can make: eternal devotion and loyalty to Hakuoro. After the revolt succeeds, her brother Derihourai takes the throne of the newly renamed nation—Karurauatsuurei, a name she chose for the land that was once Na-Tunku.
