Maika's got one of those smiles that just reads wrong—genuinely unsettling in a way she doesn't intend. It's led pretty much everyone around her to assume she's got sadistic tendencies, when really she's just accident-prone and unlucky with her expressions. Despite the constant misunderstandings, it worked out in her favor when Dino spotted her and saw potential for the "sadistic girl" waitress gimmick at Cafe Stile.
She comes from a strict, traditional family background. School and work are both in the picture for her, though the job is the real priority—she's saving up to study abroad on her own dime, which says a lot about her drive.
