Oomukade is basically a giant centipede—the name literally means "big hundred-legs." In the manga, it shows up to get revenge on a village that had been mass-killing centipedes to harvest their bodies for centipede oil, which they were selling as a specialty product. The villagers had been doing this for profit, which naturally pissed off the youkai enough to come after them.
