Croquet serves as Maximillion Pegasus's butler and right-hand man (credited as Mr. Crocketts in the Japanese version). His main job is keeping Pegasus updated on the progress of his various schemes, though he's often unknowingly stating things Pegasus has already figured out—which isn't surprising given Pegasus's access to the Millennium Eye and his generally sharp instincts. There's a running dynamic where Pegasus seems to know what's coming before Croquet even opens his mouth. In the English dub, there's even a moment where Pegasus threatens to "lock him away. again" after Croquet botches things, hinting at a darker history between them that the show doesn't really explore.
