Hiroaki was a solid student in high school, but he bombed the university entrance exams. Rather than trying again, he withdrew from the world entirely—becoming a hikkikomori who spent the next year doing what he loved: reading novels, grinding through RPGs and visual novels, and generally existing in bed with a tablet in hand.
Then one day, without warning, he got summoned to another world as a hero.
His first encounter was Flora, who immediately asked if he was the hero everyone had been waiting for. After Flora and Hugenot filled him in on what was happening, something clicked in Hiroaki's head. This was exactly like the light novels he'd been reading. He became convinced that his life had finally shifted into that dream scenario every otaku fantasizes about—a magical world, cheat powers, and a parade of cute girls who would fall for him simply because he was the protagonist and that's what cute girls do.
He was wrong about a lot of that.
