Years ago, Chizu fell for a guy named Keiichi who was around Takashi's age. He was chronically ill, and when his condition took a serious turn, she made the desperate trip to Sasafune to get mermaid blood. After she gave it to him, Keiichi got transferred to a distant hospital—and Chizu has been haunted by guilt ever since, convinced she'd ruined his life. Now she spends her days waiting for him at the train station, holding onto the hope that he'll come back.
