Friender started life as Tetsuya's pet dog Lucky before being revived as a robot using his original data. He's basically Casshern's loyal companion and support unit—capable of transforming into a jet, submarine, tank, or motorcycle depending on what's needed, and he can even breathe fire. Despite his mechanical nature, Friender is genuinely brave and has proven he can hold his own against the Andro Army without backup.
What's interesting about Friender is that he spent time with a robot community that had come to terms with the concept of death, yet he himself shows no signs of deterioration or decay. After Casshern goes berserk and destroys that entire community, Friender follows him cautiously at first—but gradually learns to trust him. These days his main role is stepping in whenever Casshern loses control, acting as a restraining force when things get out of hand.
