King—also known as Spadon King—is a phantom thief and author who operates as part of the Phantom Thieves crew. He typically partners with Dark Eye and Joker, though he's worked closely with Queen as well. King's backstory is pretty rough. He was found abandoned on a snowy road as a kid and taken in by a wealthy family, but his adoptive brother treated him terribly. He eventually ran away and ended up meeting Jack and Queen under unusual circumstances—they were trying to pull off a heist on a boat, and somehow King joined their crew instead of stopping them.
His dynamic with Jack has always been contentious. The two of them were constantly pranking each other and bickering, which made for some awkward moments early on. Despite that friction, all three of them—King, Jack, and Queen—went on to attend the Phantom Thief Academy together and made it through to graduation. Whatever tension existed between them didn't stop them from pursuing the same path.
