Hana Arai is the deuteragonist of Hana to Alice: Satsujin Jiken and serves as the story's second main lead. She gets pulled into Alice's investigation when Alice literally trespasses into her house, suspecting her of being connected to the "Juda" mystery.
In terms of personality, Hana functions as Alice's foil. While Alice charges headfirst into situations driven by pure whimsy, Hana thinks things through and keeps her impulses in check—though she's genuinely whimsical herself, just more controlled about it. Where Alice leans idealistic and childlike, Hana's got a cynical, jaded streak. She's got a bit of bitterness to her too, which she mostly channels through deadpan humor and sarcasm. She's basically the deadpan snarker to Alice's chaotic idealist.
